White Settlement ISD implemented a standard dress policy for all students in the fall of 2007. School administrators and the District Planning Committee—comprised of teachers, parents and community members—developed the guidelines and recommended the policy to the board.

Standard dress is designed so that schools may more easily identify strangers on campus and reduce the chances of students concealing weapons and drugs in loose-fitting clothes.

Standard dress requires students to wear Dockers-style khaki, black or navy pants or shorts and a solid color, polo-style, oxford-style or turtleneck shirt. Girls may also wear capris, skirts, jumpers and skorts.

Pre-kindergarten through fourth grade students may wear jeans with no more than five pockets (two in front, two in back and a fob pocket). However, cargo-style and carpenter-style jeans will not be permitted.
